Responsibilities 

  • The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process in providing nursing care to patients in all settings in collaboration with other health care providers.
  • The RN is accountable for his/her own professional development and practice within the scope of care defined by law.
  • Utilizing organizational resources the RN acts as a patient advocate for the delivery of safe care including delegation of care and participation in performance and practice improvement activities.
  • The delivery of nursing care within the Kettering Health Network reflects the missions, vision, values and philosophies, of the organization and nursing departments

Qualifications

Applicants Must Have: 

  • Licensed in the state of Ohio as a Registered Nurse
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ACEN or CCNE) if they are a new graduate nurse.
  • Bachelor of Science in nursing preferred (must be completed within 5 years of hire).
  • A nurse who is returning to the acute care setting after five or more years may be required to provide evidence of successful completion of a refresher course.
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS, NRP, PALS as determined by unit scope of practice


Qualifications

POSITION:  Open Heart Educator

 

The Open-Heart Educator functions under direction of the Cardiac Service Line manager.   This individual provides care coordination and participates in education of patients with cardiac disease through the collaboration with the Cardiothoracic Surgery team.

 

Minimum five years clinical experience with three-five years in cardiac nursing and/or broad knowledge in cardiac disease. Demonstrated computer and electronic health documentation, data entry and management and information presentation.

BLS required.

ACLS required- Must be completed within 60 days of hire

 

  • Must be able to communicate clearly, establish and maintain effective working relationships with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work cohesively, constructively with a team 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to maintain detailed, accurate records
  • Must possess high degree of self-motivation and ability to function independently while utilizing critical thinking skills
  • Ability to adapt to change, multitask and manage stressful situations
  • Good prioritization skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products especially Excel spreadsheets and Power Point
  • Must be able to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and policies
  • Monitors outcomes and oversees process improvement activities associated with Cardiothoracic patients in collaboration with clinical and leadership teams to drive quality outcomes
  • Responsible for maintaining all regulatory guidelines and requirements
  • Collaboration with leadership to facilitate activities associated with system expansion of Cardiothoracic program including physician and clinical staff education
  • Coordinates referral process and introduces patients into Structural Heart Disease clinic for purposes of evaluation and assessment
  • Coordinates pre-op education and collaborates with Cardiothoracic office and PAT to ensure appropriate pre-op testing completed
