POSITION SUMMARY

The Materials Handler/Bulk Receiver will be responsible for unloading product deliveries, staging products based on company needs and assisting with organizing and maintaining existing inventory. This role reports to the Blending Manager or Supply Chain Manager and is based out of our Hendersonville, North Carolina location. 

 


Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Load and unload material within the warehouse facility
  • Utilize hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, conveyors or other handling equipment to move material to and from trucks within the warehouse
  • Record flow information of materials and products
  • Rely on limited experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals
  • Bulk Unloader Primary Responsibilities:
    1. Manage tote inventory
    2. Utilize forklifts for various tasks.
    3. Clean all bulk tanks, totes, processing tanks, lines that are needed for unloading and bulk storage along with moving to Blending areas.
    4. Responsible for verifying tanker paper work to include FSMA responsibilities.
    5. Responsible for verifying tanker GMP compliance, cleanliness and seal integrity.
    6. Responsible for opening up tankers, and retrieving samples from tankers.
    7. Responsible for Quality checks which include Brix, TA (acid), pH, clarity, color, aroma, taste, and check for spoilage or other off characteristics.
    8. Hook up hoses, fittings, valves, piping, pumps, etc. to move juice to the appropriate storage location. To turn on pumps, set valves, check for leaks, load bulk tanks.
    9. Receive bulk tanker quantities in Inventory system.
    10. Monitor bulk inventories for quality and losses.
    11. Maintain equipment and repairs minor equipment issues. 
  •  Bulk Receiver Responsibilities:
    1. Utilize forklift the majority of the day.
    2. Receive in raw material ingredients (includes drp's from other locations). Verify that paper work from supplier matches drums/bins/pails. Verify supplier is on corporate approved spreadsheet. Tag and enter information in to QAD. 
    3. Stage and scan raw materials for drp's to other locations. 
    4. Maintain accurate inventory. Includes: expiration dates, storage locations, and handling/storing sensitive ingredients).
    5. Organize coolers and freezers to support FIFO and daily counting. 
    6. Maintain row and bin integrity, rotating product so the oldest and partials are used first.
    7. Sample concentrates upon arrival and ensuring a sample is taken from each LPC lot. Deliver samples to QC in a timely manner. 
  • Accountable for food safety, food quality and regulatory requirements for their position 
  • Encouraged to notify management about actual or potential food safety issues
  • Adopt and maintain all SQF requirements for their position
  • Empowerment to work with supervision to resolve food safety and food quality issues within their scope of work
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of related experience.  
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be detailed oriented and can multi-task
  • Must have excellent time management skills

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the food/beverage industry (a plus)
  • Previous experience in Manufacturing or production environment (a plus)
  • Ability to direct, coach and train others.
  • Consultative, influential, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be detailed oriented and have the ability to multi-task
  • Proven organizational skills

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting; driving a motor vehicle and occasionally working in the field.

 

FREQUENT:  sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to include extended periods of keyboard and mouse use, side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending and stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting at waist, moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials.

Bulk Receiver climbs tanker ladders, climbs stairs to bulk tanks, pulls and pushes equipment, handles awkward hoses.  A lot of walking to various bulk areas.   Uses hands to open and close valves and ports.

 

OCCASIONAL:  squatting, kneeling, reach above and at shoulder height, moderate grasp to manipulate reference books and manuals; lifting objects weighing up to 50lbs. from below waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 feet.

Bulk Receivers:  squatting, kneeling, sitting, using computers.
