Pay Range for this position is: $150,000-$227,000 plus annual bonus, depending on experience.




POSITION SUMMARY

The Marketing Director reports to the Chief Marketing Officer, N.A. Specialty Foods and is based out of Cherry Hill, New Jersey location. This is a hybrid position. This individual will be responsible for brand strategy, marketing and annual business planning, brand management, and new product development. 


Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Brand Strategy
    1. Devise consumer-led brand strategies in consideration of total NA portfolio/company objectives and strategies
    2. Build and articulate strong brand foundations with differentiated positioning grounded in core brand equities and consumer insights
    3. Seek growth opportunities (and inform strategies) by identifying and understanding evolving consumer needs, segmentation, and marketplace trends
  • Marketing & Annual Business Planning
    1. Set well-defined marketing and business objectives that deliver on brand strategy and support company goals
    2. Support the development of marketing talent and tools, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning
    3. Act as a key leader and active contributor within the newly formed Marketing Leadership Council, driving strategic alignment and leading the execution of marketing initiatives
    4. Develop breakthrough Integrated Marketing Communication ideas and plans that resonate with consumers to drive desired results
    5. Manage the entire marketing mix with emphasis on digital/social activation, as well as more traditional but targeted tactics including in-store shopper marketing
    6. Leverage and manage external agencies in development and activation of plans/programs, bring out the best in their capabilities to deliver high standards, continually identify prospective agencies/new capabilities in the market
  • Brand Management / Business Acumen
    1. Take a holistic view to brand/business by thoughtfully integrating product/packaging, pricing/profitability, competitive/customer/category dynamics into planning and day-to-day management
    2. Manage and track budgets responsibly and on target, investing marketing dollars with a focus on optimizing ROI
    3. Utilize strong analytic skills to leverage data across multiple sources to become an expert in the category(s), bring rigor in translating data into insights and action
    4. Forge partnership with sales, category management, and consumer insights and serve as key point of contact and support including:   rapidly evaluate/deliver on ad-hoc customer requests, collaborate on selling presentation for category reviews, contend with competitive threats, etc.
  • New Product Development / Project Management
    1. Lead new product development initiatives
      • Serve as champion for new product ideas, including delivering on near-in extensions as well as new opportunities to expand the portfolio
      • Bring creative ideas to the forefront and drive/participate in concept to commercialization process with cross-functional team
    2. Identify and lead relevant consumer research plans, in collaboration with consumer insights for optimizing/validating ideas spanning from new products to enhancements of current brand portfolio
  • People management and development
    1. Manage and develop direct report(s)
    2. Act as a leader within the marketing group, serving as role model and mentor to other team members
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Manage 1-3 employees
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Communicates job expectations; planning, monitoring, and assessing job results; coaching, and counseling employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Establishes strategic goals; identifying and evaluating trends; choosing a course of action; defining objectives; evaluating outcomes.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business/marketing, MBA required
  • Minimum of 8 years brand management experience, Food/Bev industry desired and a strong plus, CPG industry required
  • Strong and agile leadership capability including: acts like an owner, champions and drives initiatives/causes, effectively collaborates within and beyond marketing team by building strong working relationships, brings solutions not problems (with solid rationale and passion)
  • Drive for results with a hard work ethic and action orientation
  • Responsible and accountable for ensuring projects are completed on-time and deliver optimal results
  • Brings conviction to introduce new ideas and fresh ways of thinking and operating
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including ability to develop and deliver compelling presentations
  • Active listener, respectful of others, able to receive and provide constructive feedback
  • Comfortable with entrepreneurial environment and smaller company budgets
  • Detailed oriented and can multi-task
  • Excellent time management skills

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the food/beverage industry (a plus)
  • Previous experience in Manufacturing or production environment (a plus)
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Ability to direct, coach and train others.
  • Consultative, influential, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting, driving a motor vehicle and occasionally working in the field.

 

FREQUENT: sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to include extended periods of keyboard and mouse use, side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending and stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting at waist, moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials.

 

OCCASIONAL: squatting, kneeling, reach above and at shoulder height, moderate grasp to manipulate reference books and manuals; lifting objects weighing 20 – 35 lbs. from below waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 feet.

 

VISION: Ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction.

 

HEARING: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
