Description

The School of Health Sciences, Human Services, and Nursing (HS2N) seeks an Associate Dean to provide leadership and management to the School and the Dean's office. The Associate Dean will provide coordination of data collection, accreditation, scheduling, personnel and budgeting processes, strategic planning, and academic matters. The Associate Dean will report to the Dean of HS2N and will represent the Dean's office on divisional and college-wide committees. The Associate Dean will also lead efforts across the school to develop strategic plans, evaluate learning outcomes, oversee the accreditation process, review undergraduate and graduate curriculum proposals, and work with faculty on documentation to be submitted to the various internal and external committees.

Appointment to the position may be accompanied with an appointment at the rank of associate or full professor, and tenure may be granted upon appointment to the faculty title, depending on qualifications and experience.

The School of Health Sciences, Human Services, and Nursing (HS2N) is the home to six academic departments. They are Departments of Exercise Science and Recreation, Health Equity, Administration & Technology, Health Promotion & Nutrition Sciences, Nursing, Social Work, and Speech Language and Hearing Sciences. Additionally, the school houses the City University of New York (CUNY) Institute for Health Equity (CIHE), a CUNY-wide institute that coordinates research, teaching, service and community collaboration to eliminate health inequalities and promote health equity in complex urban settings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Co-lead and co-manage the school's strategic planning process

• Liaise with assessment coordinators to implement and manage a system to collect data to be used for accreditation or program review purposes.

• Liaise with the accreditation agency and review accreditation reports.

• Cultivate and help manage new academic programs, including those involving collaboration with CUNY Central, the NYCDOE, and NYSED.

• Assist the Dean in personnel matters, including assessment of potential new faculty and make recommendations regarding current faculty tenure and

promotion.

• Mentor tenure-track and promotion eligible faculty.

• Assist faculty in developing research grant proposals and facilitating the routing of the grant through the office of sponsored programs

• Manage the review of curriculum change proposals from beginning to end and serve as an advisor to departments in curriculum matters.

• Mediate and resolve concerns among chairs, students, departments, and administrative units.

• Serve on divisional and college-wide committees as representative of the Office of the Dean

• Review website routinely to assure accurate and timely information is current.

• Performs additional duties as requested by the Dean and represents Dean as appropriate if the Dean is unavailable.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. PhD, EdD, DNs degree in Nursing, Allied Health, Public Health or other health related doctoral degree.

  2. Clinical practice experience in the area of expertise is highly desirable.

  3. At least 8 years of teaching undergraduate and graduate students, research experience including writing, obtaining, and implementing grants.

  4. Strong academic leadership and administrative experience.

  5. Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and intercultural communication skills

  6. Experience managing multiple faculties, staff, and collaborating with academic researchers and clinical providers across nursing and/or allied health fields

  7. Experience with planning and writing self-study documents

  8. Ability to work with colleagues from diverse programs and backgrounds

  9. Strong strategic planning, program development and assessment skills

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary commensurate with education and experience. $142,233-$150,000
