Leonardo DRS GES (Global Enterprise Solutions) is one of the lines of business of Leonardo DRS. Leonardo DRS GES is largest provider of SATCOM based ICT solutions to the Federal Government. The Communication Solutions Architect will be part of a matrixed Engineering and Technical Operations team, acting as the Primary interface to both the Program Management and Business Development Organizations on assigned key programs and opportunities. The role calls for a dynamic team player with high level subject matter expertise in various disciplines as relates to providing SATCOM based end-to-end solutions. This role will primarily support the GC (Global Communications) LoB (Line of business)
As a primary technical interface to Business Development (BD) on assigned capture efforts, including but not limited to proposals. Responsibilities include:
o Review customer requirements (PWS/SOW/RFQ) and lead a cross-functional project team to develop technically feasible, compliant, cutting edge, and cost effective solution(s).
o Working within our existing mature and defined proposal processes, this individual will lead technical aspects of efforts, interfacing with our pool of Engineering Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) (in SATCOM/RF, Platform, Network Engineering, and Cybersecurity) to articulate complex technical solutions into clear, concise, compliant language in response to our customer's requirements.
o Work with Proposal Managers and Capture Managers to integrate competitive differentiators and win themes with technical proposal responses ensuring the final product is compliant and meets and/or exceeds customer needs.
o Spearhead efforts with SMEs and Proposal Graphics team to develop tables and/or illustrations (diagrams, flowcharts, charts) to efficiently explain (or condense) technical matter.
o Participate in vendor meetings and interactions in development of technical solution(s)
o Comply with document control processes and policies through an approved tracking system and publish approved documents to SharePoint or other designated proposal sites.
o Lead response to White papers, RFIs, Presentations.
o Participate in document color reviews
o Support, including travel, to trade shows, industry events, customer meetings, presentations, seminars etc.
Mentor and coach less experienced engineers
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Bachelor's Degree is required.
o Degree in a related technical field demonstrating analytical and strong writing ability, including technical writing or editing in a technically-oriented environment is highly preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience/expertise in related field is required.
o Experience in engineering end to end SATCOM solutions is strongly preferred.
ITILv4 Foundations certification is preferred
Understanding of Business Development and Capture processes preferred
Excellent communications skills, both written and oral
Proficiency with desktop publishing applications such as Microsoft Word
Technical writing experience necessary; proposal writing and familiarity with Shipley Proposal Lifecycle or APMP training and/or certifications preferred.
Must be a U.S Citizen with an ability to obtain Secret or higher level clearance.
o Existing Secret or higher clearance is preferred.
Expertise/experience in desired technical fields to include:
o GEO, MEO, and LEO SATCOM vendors/constellations.
o Understanding of SATCOM link budgets
o Various satellite user terminal vendors and solutions
o Exposure and understanding of various satellite platform providers like iDirect, NewTech, Comtech, ViaSAT, etc.
o Understanding of WAN Networking technologies/vendors in areas of terrestrial infrastructure, Routing, Switching, Firewalls, VTC, VoIP, etc.
o Broad understanding of Information Assurance and Cyber requirements as relates to overall end-to-end solution design
