Summary of Role

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The embedded Software Engineer will be an integral part of our Infrared Sensors & Systems (ISS) Software Development Team. The Engineer will design, develop and test embedded software for infrared sensors and subsystems. The Engineer will interface with other DRS Team Members representing a wide range of disciplines, including Electrical Engineering, Product Engineering, and Manufacturing Operations.

Basic Qualifications and Required Skills
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Bachelor's Degree with 2+ year(s) embedded software development experience; prior related intern or coop experience will be considered. A Computer Science or Electrical Engineering Degree is preferred.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Experience developing in C/C++
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Strong analytical and communication skills
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Competent technical expertise and application domain knowledge
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Motivated, self-starter individual
Desired Skills
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Solid knowledge in Operating System concepts
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Solid knowledge in Data Structures and Algorithms
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Experience in mutli-tasking programming, and debugging
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Familiarity with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Experience with Microsoft Office
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Ability to obtain clearance
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Supports and participates in technical activity
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Designs, develops, analyzes, and tests products, systems or subsystems
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Ability to work independently under supervision of others
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Provides regular reporting of progress and status
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Responsible for completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Reviews customer specifications and requirements, and under direction develops designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Develops prototypes to retire key development risks as directed
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Communicates clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
