Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Supply Chain, we are seeking a motivated, reliable, and detail-oriented Material Handler to support Outgoing Shipments in our warehouse facility.  This role plays a critical part in ensuring that products are accurately packed, labeled, and shipped in accordance with company standards and contract requirements, for on-time delivery to the Customer. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in outbound shipping and warehouse operations, along with a solid understanding and compliance to safe material handling practices, forklift operation, and shipping documentation. A commitment to safety, professionalism, and a strong work ethic are essential to success in this position. This will be on-site role at out Bedford, NS facility for a period of 9-12 months.

As a Material Handler, your main responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
  • Follow all company safety guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with forklift safety standards
  • Keep the shipping area clean, organized, and free from hazards, supporting a safe and efficient work environment
  • Prepare, stage, and process outgoing shipments accurately and efficiently, ensuring all products are packed and labeled per, DRS, Customer, and Carrier requirements
  • Use proper packing materials and techniques to protect goods during transit and minimize damage
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and in accordance with company procedures
  • Review, complete, and maintain accurate shipping documentation, including packing slips, shipping labels, and bills of lading
  • Prepare and inspect for damage, before release to carriers 
  • Must be familiar with the safe operation of tools required for packing, such as box cutter, steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools 
  • Locate and move materials from racking, pallets, trays, and shelves with the use of forklift, or by hand 
  • Load and unload trucks, coordinating directly with freight and courier drivers
  • Visual inspection of incoming material and internal transit to Inventory Department for receiving
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
