The Trauma Educator and Injury Prevention Coordinator assumes accountability for developing, supporting, coordinating, and presenting trauma education/prevention activities within the hospital and at the community level.  This would include but not be limited to providing information to trauma program staff, patients/families and coordinating community activities to promote trauma awareness and prevention.  The Trauma Injury Prevention/ Outreach Specialist, designs, plans, and implements formal and informal education programs based on evaluations of community needs.   Trauma center public relations are inherent in this role. The position plays an integral role in research efforts related to trauma center data analysis and evidence based research activities. Helps to guide outreach, injury prevention, and educational activities based on trauma center data.

Qualifications

Experience

Minimum 7-10 years recent clinical experience in direct patient care in Emergency/ICU/Critical Care setting.  Clinical Proficiency in current trauma practice.

Education / Credentials

Required: Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Nursing  

Preferred: Masters Degree and/or advanced certificate in Nursing or related field

Certification:    Required - BLS

                        Preferred - CTRN, CEN, CCRN, or CNOR preferred                                   

  • TNCC Provider, Instructor and/or Course Director preferred
  • ACLS/PALS/ENPC Provider preferred

License:           Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
