Description

Under the direction of the chair of Surgery, the Physician Assistant is expected to provide full clinical support in management patients in ambulatory surgical clinics with occasional expectation of managing patients in the inpatient setting. Plans, implements and evaluates health care treatments for patients including initial assessment, plans, H&P and managements of patients. Provides patient care on specific surgical in- and outpatient services. The position requires a strong emphasis on the complete care of the surgical patients, from pre- to peri- to post-op settings. Identifies and solves complex clinical problems requiring use of advanced clinical skills and communicates directly with supervising surgeons.

Develops and provides education to PA students, medical students, interns, residents, and fellows. Functions as liaison with clinic managers/nurse coordinators, financial counselors, social workers, research staff, and other support staff. Develops and provides patient education. May assume such other duties as assigned by the department chair. Participates in research and/or quality assurance studies. Position requires special skills and knowledge in the multiple fields of surgery.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Must have valid State of California PA. License.

Must have National Board Certification for PA's

Must be able to obtain medical staff privileges.

Compensation & Benefits

The compensation range listed is for starting base compensation only and is adjusted based upon years of experience and/or faculty rank: $150,000 - 180,000. This amount does not include variable compensation or extra productivity and is subject to the individual department compensation plans. More information on compensation is discussed with the departments during the recruitment process.
