Position Summary Under general#direction, provides organizational leadership in the development, implementation and maintenance of service consistent with the Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan of the Mary Greeley Medical Center. Leader understands, supports, communicates, and promotes hospital initiatives. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care and a respectful work environment. Position Responsibilities Unit Specific Position Responsibilities Qualifications, Knowledge # Experience Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education): Organizational Requirements: Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements. BLS and Mandatory Reporter training, or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment. De-escalation training prior to performing direct patient care or within 90 days of hire. Preferred Qualifications: Two years# experience in leadership. Master#s level of education in nursing or health related field. Required Knowledge, Skills # Experience: Skill in effective oral and written communication in English. Knowledge of basic arithmetic, algebra, statistics, and their applications. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Active Listening skills, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Ability to manage one#s time effectively. Excellent interpersonal skills; a positive, optimistic #can-do# approach to problems. Innovative, creative leader. Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Current Iowa license as a Registered Nurse. Professional certification in nursing specialty or nursing leadership within 24 months of hire. Able to communicate and interact effectively with co-workers, medical staff and the general public. Strong written, verbal and listening skills. Minimum of two years clinical experience. Skill in planning, directing and controlling multiple departmental activities. Able to mentor staff and develop their strengths. Thorough knowledge of management theory related to health care operations. Preferred Knowledge, Skills # Experience: None specified.
