Overview

We are looking for a Director of Software Engineering with a proven track record of leading multiple global SCRUM Teams.

You will be joining an award-winning team, headquartered in The City of London, we build solutions that help our clients gain an understanding of the underlying criminal behaviour that drives financial crime, empowering them to act.

This is a leadership role accountable for end-to-end delivery from Analysis, Design, Build and Test across several products. You will be partnering with product managers, architects, and operations teams responsible for the continued development of Financial Crime Solutions.

Role

• Leads 3-5 SCRUM teams of about 10 to 12 software engineers, business analysts, systems analysts, DevOps, and quality engineers.
• Evaluates employee performance, sets expectations and goals for direct reports and their teams.
• Exercises independent judgment and discretion in overall project management by prioritizing, planning, and tracking project progress.
• Designs, develops, and modifies programs and plans working closely with the business owners and technical program managers.
• Research software development options and provides analysis for product development direction.
• Works closely with architecture and platform teams, challenging and improving solutions for performance, scale, and costs.
• Must have good organizational and analytical skills and be able to interact with all levels of management.

All About You

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Manager of Managers, leader, coach, and mentor for your teams
• Prior hands-on experience as a software engineer or architect
• Fundamentally grounded in agile methodologies, specifically SCRUM or SAFE
• Extensive experience managing multi-stakeholder programs in a global organization or equivalent.
• Experience of managing teams using the following technologies Java/.Net/Python/ Go/React/Node.
• Experience of building solutions for public cloud
• Experience of managing globally distributed teams
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal are a must.
• Organizational planning and multi-tasking skills.
• Listening, oral, written and presentation skills and effective interpersonal skills.
• Ability to drive results while being resourceful and tactful within a corporate environment.
• Extensive experience evaluating complex strategic initiatives, facilitating, influencing, and contributing to design and advancement.
• Understands the business strategy and design approaches within product, program, or domain with depth to be credible and effective with teams they work with. Can competently represent team's services.
• Keeps abreast of evolving technology landscape. Can ask the right questions to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of designs (scalability, latency, security, performance, data integrity, etc.)
• Works with ambiguity and with limited guidance. The business outcome, program, and/or product strategy is defined, but nothing else is.
• Encourages continuous improvement through data driven metrics aligned with organization objectives.
• Plays an active role in mentoring and recruiting others.
• The role is hybrid, based in central London, and the expectation is that you attend the office according to Mastercard policy.
• You may have domain knowledge in payments, fraud, anti-money laundering and machine learning.
