Title and Summary

Principal Architect - Product Operations and Enablement Overview:
The Principal Architect - Product Operations and Enablement (POE) will be responsible for leading the technical direction as the POE team works to support the next generation platforms, architectures, and systems leveraged to modernize and improve the operations of the AI & Decision Product Enablement (AI & DPE) organization. The POE team sets the direction and vision around the operational aspects of the AI & DPE platform, which provides business solutions to combat fraud and authenticate users, processing billions of transactions per month. Principal Architects will provide technical thought leadership and expertise for new platform operational capabilities.

Role:
• Delivering innovative end-to-end operational solutions -- from the conceptual to the application level for new initiatives
• Partnering with business and other technology teams to set technical strategy, roadmaps, and direction
• Innovating new approaches to meet business needs, lower costs, and improve agility
• Providing direction to project technical leads and reviewing designs
• Mentor technical individual contributors
• Estimating and planning new efforts

All About you:
• Architecting large and complex systems from conceptual to application architecture.
• Providing technical thought leadership across an organization.
• Extensive technical experience with Java, Linux, Oracle, and virtualization technologies.
• Experience with containerization technologies – OpenShift, Kubernetes, etc.
• Experience with commercial CI/CD and deployment products – like digital.ai Deploy/Release, XL Release and IBM DevOps Deploy
• Agile software development processes and architecture governance.
• Self-motivated and able to accomplish tasks with minimal direction.
• Managing multiple efforts simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
• Designing, implementing, and enhancing Chef-based deployment automation, including writing Chef recipes/cookbooks.
• Using Jenkins to orchestrate builds and integrate with Sonar, Chef, Maven, Artifactory for CI/CD pipeline.
• Supporting code deployments into multiple lower environments with a focus on automation.
• Designing and implementing Git-based code management strategies for parallel environment deployments, including automation for branch management, code promotions, and version management.
• Engaging and improving the entire service lifecycle—from inception and design through deployment, operation, and refinement.
• Analyzing ITSM activities and providing feedback on operational gaps or resiliency concerns.
• Scaling systems sustainably through automation and advocating for changes to improve reliability and velocity.
• Supporting the application CI/CD pipeline for software promotion through validation and operational gating, and leading DevOps automation and best practices.
• Thorough understanding of Agile methodologies, with the ability to drive iterative delivery and cross-team collaboration.
• Strong communicator with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, and to influence stakeholders across product, engineering, and acquisition teams.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
