About the Role
Technical Program Managers at Mastercard interact with product managers, software development managers, developers, and senior leaders across partner teams in the Product and Engineering organization to deliver complex projects and programs. You will define roadmap deliverables, develop program execution plans, align dependencies, track progress, anticipate risks, provide escalation management, make sound trade-off decisions, and balance business needs versus technical constraints. The ideal candidate is passionate about the customer experience journey, highly motivated, intellectually curious, analytical, and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset. You are expected to be detail-oriented, with a solid technical background and excellent problem-solving skills.

As a Senior Technical Program Manager at Mastercard, you are expected to perform the following general responsibilities:
• Plan, execute, and deliver projects from inception to completion related to a known technology, product, or program. Describe and maintain the integrated plan that accounts for internal/external dependencies, differing delivery approaches, numerous constraints, and contingencies for unplanned delays.
• Secure resources, scope efforts, outline priorities and establish delivery milestones. Nurture good working relationships with engineers, managers, and peers.
• Proactively manage the end-to-end delivery of engineering work through the organization and all dependent organizations, reporting out progress, ensuring dependencies are covered, overseeing the gaps between teams, processes, and systems, while removing all blocking issues leading to a successful delivery. Accelerate progress by driving crisp, timely decisions.
• Be the first point of contact for projects. Communicate with confidence 3+ levels up. Be the source of truth for status. Transform raw thoughts into clear and concise communications. Provide right information and associated data about the state of the project to the right audience at the right time. Run effective meetings.
• Have experience in and understand industry technologies and understand the program, product, or O&T domain. Have sufficient depth/credibility to be effective with teams you work with. Can competently represent team's services to stakeholders and other teams.
• Delivers independently but occasionally seek direction from peers/managers. Guide, mentor and coach the team.
• Optimize previously defined approaches for a team or limited area. Demonstrate improvements using data. Utilize department mechanisms (i.e. retrospectives, staff meetings, status meetings) to describe and drive continuous improvements.

All About You
The ideal candidate for this position should have:
• Intermediate technical program delivery or project management experience including time developing and testing software. Experience leading development and testing efforts or time spent in software development and testing.
• Demonstrated experience breaking down problems, organizing work, planning sprints, and delivering technical programs in agile delivery models using the Software Development Life Cycle
• Demonstrated ability to operate with independence and autonomy
• Proven track record of data-driven decision-making and applying continuous improvement methodologies across teams
• Demonstrated experience building relationships, partnering with and influencing dependent teams while commanding the respect of the individuals you work with across the organization
• Ability to debate the delivery strategy with business teams, architects, engineers, and designers
• Ability to communicate to executives, peers, and staff with impact, eloquence, and authenticity
• Experience working on programs to define and build cloud-native software products as a platform at scale
• Desire to dive deep to understand the platforms' capabilities and underlying technologies
• Bachelor degree in software engineering, computer science, information technology or related discipline preferred, or equivalent work experience

Preferred but not required
• Completed Certifications (Agile, PMI, ITIL, DevOps, cloud computing, Java, etc.) preferred, or equivalent work experience
• Expertise in Payments, IaaS, PaaS, serverless technology, CI/CD, NoSQL databases, microservices APIs, and distributed systems operations in a DevOps model

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more.
