Overview

The Operations, Network and Employee Digital Experience Organization (ONE) is a fast-paced organization with over 3,000 team members. The Software Engineer will join the Business Strategy and Governance team within ONE. This team's primary responsibilities include driving technology enabled outcomes, supporting complex initiatives (operational and strategic), elevating workforce talent and governing data/processes across ONE.



The Business Strategy and Governance team is looking for a Software Engineer who can be part of a team committed to simplifying our intake and work allocation process. The ideal candidate is passionate about innovation, driving outcomes and thrives in a team environment.



Role

This role will have diverse responsibilities, giving the person the opportunity to have hands on experience in three distinct areas (software engineering, power platform development and testing automation).

As a Software Engineer I at Mastercard, you are expected to perform the following general duties:

Follow given directions and procedures in software delivery tasks (code, development, test, deployment)

Deliver assigned work seeking guidance from experienced team members

Proactively seek reviews of their work from experienced members

Understands the big picture and end-to-end logical architecture of systems in ownership areas

Demonstrate active learning and sharing of software practices via Guild/Engineering community initiatives

Design and build PowerPlatform solutions, including user interfaces, workflows, and data integrations, ensuring they meet defined functional & user requirements.

Build model-driven & canvas PowerApps focusing on business process automation.

Integrate PowerPlatform solutions with other systems and data sources using connectors and custom APIs, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.



All About You

Technical Qualifications:



The ideal candidate for this position should:

Has the ability and skills in building applications using open frameworks to achieve reuse and reduce development times (e.g., Sprint Boot, Stelltoe, Angular, DXP, and others)

Can write secure code in three or more languages (Java, Python, Ruby, Bash); familiar with secure coding standards (e.g., OWASP, CWE, SEI CERT) and vulnerability management.

Experience with software engineering concepts and methodologies, including agile lifecycles, testing automation, and behavior-driven development.

Understands and implements standard branching (e.g., Gitflow) and peer review practices; Applies tools (e.g., Sonar, Zally, Checkmarx) and techniques to scan and measure code quality and anti-patterns as part of development activity; understands and builds test code at the unit level, service level, and integration level to ensure code and functional coverage.

Displays a basic understanding of Mastercard systems architecture and automation technologies to support and implement software delivery and business process automation.

Understands Continuous Integration (CI) and Delivery (CD) concepts and capabilities to support automation pipelines, virtualization, and containerization; Aware of configuration management using tools (e.g., Puppet, Chef) and CI/CD tools (e.g., Artifactory, Jenkins, Git, Sonar)

Experience testing UI components like buttons, forms, navigation, models, validating workflows, and business logic.

Experience in Automation Testing (Selenium or Cypress for UI automation and API integration testing, verifying how the UI interacts with backend APIs using tools like Postman.

Familiarity with PowerApps, PowerAutomate, PowerBI and Dataverse.

Strong sense of curiosity, analytical problem solving and is passionate about the customer experience journey

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. Pay Ranges

O'Fallon, Missouri: $72,000 - $115,000 USD
