Title and Summary

SVP, Business Expansion & Transformation Overview

The Senior Vice President, Business Expansion & Transformation (BET) will lead a newly established function within Mastercard's Business & Market Insights organization (B&MI). This role is responsible for driving bold innovation, business diversification, and sustainable growth by identifying, incubating, and commercializing transformative opportunities aligned with Mastercard's strategic priorities and external market signals.



This executive leader will oversee a continuous ideation funnel, partner with Mastercard Foundry and Technology teams, and shape a cohesive, modernized blueprint across B&MI capabilities and emerging products. The ideal candidate is a visionary strategist and operator with a passion for building the future of Mastercard through experimentation, cross-functional collaboration, and disciplined execution.



Key Responsibilities



Lead the Business Expansion & Transformation (BET) function, setting the strategic vision and operating model to drive innovation and business diversification across B&MI. Build and lead a high-performing team to deliver on BET's mission.

Manage a dynamic ideation and transformation pipeline and funnel, identifying high-impact opportunities through market signals, customer needs, and emerging technology trends.

Partner with Mastercard Foundry to co-develop and pilot new concepts, and with Technology to ensure architectural alignment and scalability. Demonstrate measurable impact through creation and rapid growth of new P&L that represents 5%+ of Business & Market Insights within 4 years.

Partner with Technology to define and implement capabilities across B&MI product platforms that enable product teams to further differentiate product offerings.

Collaborate with senior stakeholders across Product, Technology, Strategy, regional teams, and other stakeholders to align on priorities and accelerate go-to-market execution.

Partner with broader Mastercard ecosystem (incl. Core payments, services, commercial & new payment flows) to identify opportunities for new Mastercard-wide initiatives that cut across-business.

Establish and maintain governance processes to evaluate, prioritize, and scale new initiatives, ensuring alignment with Mastercard's and B&MI's long-term growth strategy.

Represent BET internally and externally as a thought leader on innovation, transformation, and the future of commerce and relevant domains.

Key Skills and Experiences

Strategic Vision & Innovation: Proven ability to define and execute bold, forward-looking strategies that drive business transformation and unlock new growth vectors.

Product & Business Incubation: Experience leading early-stage product development, from ideation through incubation and commercialization, ideally in a matrixed or global environment.

Cross-Functional Leadership: Strong track record of influencing and collaborating across diverse teams including product, engineering, strategy, and commercial functions.

Technology Fluency: Deep understanding of emerging technologies (e.g., AI, real-time data, platform architecture) and their application to new business models.

Execution Excellence: Ability to balance visionary thinking with disciplined execution, including governance, resource planning, and performance measurement.

Change Management: Skilled at navigating ambiguity, driving organizational change, and fostering a culture of innovation and experimentation.

Communication & Influence: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to inspire teams, influence senior stakeholders, and represent Mastercard externally.

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
