Title and Summary

Vice President, Business Development (Head of Non-FI) Role Purpose
Lead Mastercard's business development efforts across non-financial institutions in Vietnam, driving strategic partnerships and innovative product solutions to accelerate adoption and growth of Mastercard's payment products, platforms, and merchant acceptance in both B2C and B2B contexts. This role is pivotal in shaping Mastercard's ecosystem beyond financial institutions, ensuring the company's leadership in payments innovation and partnership excellence.

Strategic Scope & Importance
• Ecosystem Leadership: Cultivate long-term, strategic partnerships across a diverse ecosystem—including fintechs, e-commerce platforms, airlines, large-format retail, telcos, insurance, loyalty companies, ride-hailing services, and other emerging sectors. The VP is responsible for identifying, engaging, and growing these partnerships to drive Mastercard's vision of a ‘World Beyond Cash'.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (Product, Marketing, Legal, Finance, etc.) and coordinate effectively with both Vietnam and Regional teams to ensure seamless execution of partnership initiatives and product launches.
• Industry Representation: Represent Mastercard in industry forums, workshops, and strategic discussions with C-suite executives across partner organizations, positioning Mastercard as a thought leader and trusted partner.
• Strategic Growth: Develop frameworks to identify and unlock new business opportunities in both B2C and B2B segments, with a strategic view toward long-term ecosystem growth and sustainable revenue generation.
• Innovation & Solutioning: Co-create and implement tailored payment solutions, including embedded finance, co-branded programs, digital rewards, and omnichannel experiences. Expand adoption of Mastercard technologies and acceptance categories (contactless, QR, mobile NFC, e-commerce), collaborating with acquiring banks and merchants.
• Commercial Excellence: Drive commercial negotiations and agreements with a strong understanding of P&L dynamics, ensuring sustainable revenue growth and value creation for Mastercard and its partners.
• Talent Development: Identify, coach, and groom top talent, proactively developing employees as organizational resources.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute business development strategies to grow core and services revenues for Vietnam, collaborating closely with country, division, and regional teams.
• Cultivate long-term partnerships across fintechs, e-commerce platforms, airlines, retail, telcos, insurance, loyalty companies, ride-hailing services, and other emerging sectors.
• Drive commercial negotiations and agreements, ensuring sustainable revenue growth and value creation for Mastercard and its partners.
• Co-create and implement tailored payment solutions, including embedded finance, co-branded programs, digital rewards, and omnichannel experiences.
• Expand adoption of Mastercard technologies and acceptance categories (contactless, QR, mobile NFC, e-commerce), collaborating with acquiring banks and merchants.
• Develop frameworks to identify and unlock new business opportunities, with a strategic view toward long-term ecosystem growth.
• Represent Mastercard in industry forums, workshops, and strategic discussions with C-suite executives across partner organizations.
• Share joint responsibility for delivering on financial and operational metrics to regional management.
• Identify, coach, and groom top talent, proactively developing employees as organizational resources.
• Ensure compliance with Mastercard's security policies and practices, maintaining confidentiality and integrity of information.

Qualifications & Experience
• At least 17 years' market experience, preferably in banking, payments, or consulting; strong background in financial services or payments preferred.
• Leverage industry insights and market intelligence to anticipate trends, adjust go-to-market approaches, and drive innovation that positions Mastercard at the forefront of payments evolution. Foster a culture of collaboration and agility, empowering cross-functional teams to deliver on ambitious growth objectives and exceed partner expectations.
• Demonstrated strategic mindset, with a proven ability to translate vision into actionable business development strategies and innovative product solutions.
• Extensive experience in business development, strategic alliances, partnership management, and product solutioning across diverse sectors.
• Track record in product management, portfolio management, and P&L ownership, with exposure to digital UI/UX and business model innovation.
• Demonstrates a robust knowledge of financial services, complemented by experience with non-financial industry sectors such as fintech, retail, telecommunications, and insurance.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in both Vietnamese and English, with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives.
• Confident, proactive, and ambitious personality; demonstrated persistence in identifying and resolving issues and developing opportunities and solutions.
• Strong coordination and cooperation skills to work across local and regional teams.
• Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
• Management experience, including leading high-performing teams and business units.
