Description

Lead the process of translating complex user requirements into optimal system designs.  Lead other programmers and perform complex programming tasks yourself.  Lead code reviews. Write and execute test plans. Write functional specifications. Develop & maintain documentation of designs and code.

Has in-depth understanding of development best practices. Has mastered the tools needed to debug and diagnose issues in any type of environment. Understands the scope and relationships of large features and production stack for their area.  Has a good understanding of all components of their applications.  Ensures that data integrity, data quality, business rules, security standards and government regulations are met.

Given a medium to large understood problem, can design and implement a solution.  Provides management with recommendations for issue resolution.

Shows initiative and offers assistance when needed without being asked. Takes responsibility for team and deliverables.  Delivers feedback in a constructive manner. Provides guidance to entry-level employees. Works well with Business Analysts, Infrastructure & Architectural leads, incorporating feedback as needed. Helps focus discussion on important aspects.



Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, business or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Masters degree in Computer Science, business or related field or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years information systems experience. 
  • Minimum 4 years analysis and design experience.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
  • Advanced understanding of programming design and coding techniques (DataStage ETL, Relational DB, SQL Server T-SQL, COBOL/JCL/Proc, DB2 SQL).
  • Advanced understanding of multiple hardware and software platforms (e.g. mainframe, distributed, cloud, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of project management practices.
  • Advanced understanding of systems development life cycle. Exposure to iterative development approaches
