About the Job

General Summary of Position
Assists in the implementation monitoring and evaluation of MedStar agreements. Participates in the negotiation of contracts development of network carve-outs and global pricing arrangements and in the assessment and communication of industry trends. Responsible for securing agreements and subsequent follow-up to ensure compliance and adherence to agreed-upon terms. Serves as project manager for various initiatives such as the development improvement plans coordination of Request for Proposal (RFP) responses and ongoing assessment of end-user satisfaction. Assists in managing relationships with vendors and assists in the coordination of contract functions throughout MedStar.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Has responsibility for the contract management process including ensuring compliance with payment terms.
  • Serves as the central point of contact and troubleshooter for contract issues. Assesses contract compliance. Works with internal operational managers committees etc. to implement improvement plans and resolve issues.
  • Facilitates the successful implementation and maintenance of new and existing contracts with hospital departments. Ensures the smooth implementation of contract terms and works internally and externally to resolve contract problems as they arise.
  • Assists in auditing of accounts to evaluate compliance with contract payment terms.
  • Develops internal channels of communication with key stakeholders to facilitate the written and oral dissemination of information regarding contractual changes and procedures new agreements opportunities etc.
  • Develops profiles and reports on the approved contract utilization of MedStar facilities for use in proposing and implementing contract revisions expansions renegotiations etc.
  • Develops strategies to increase approved contract utilization of various services in conjunction with MedStar leaders and executives. Creates communication between MedStar to contracted vendors as an integrated system and effectively communicates available services on behalf of the hospital and diversified businesses and in return effectively communicates market demands and needs to MedStar representatives.
  • Coordinates multidisciplinary forums within MedStar for managed care orientation sessions and other payer presentations.9.
  • Manages the successful completion of RFP responses on behalf of MedStar entities. Assists Marketing in the development of collateral material.
  • Recommends future contract changes that will prevent operational problems enhance reimbursements and secure volume.
  • Completes external market analyses by compiling published financial and utilization information on managed care companies and competitor providers. Develops an overall assessment of the current healthcare market situation to assist in the selection of managed care companies targeted for relationships with MedStar to influence internal strategic decisions regarding program development to monitor payers' market and financial performance.
  • Serves as support for managed care department and covers for Hospital/Health Plan Coordinator when out of the office.

Minimal Qualifications
Education

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Business Admin, Hospital Admin, or another related field required.
  • Master's degree with a health care concentration preferred.

Experience

  • 1-2 years in healthcare operations or finance experience; experience in healthcare reimbursement. CPT and ICD9 coding; basic knowledge of clinical delivery setting healthcare insurance and provide contracting arrangements required

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet and database software applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communications.

This position has a hiring range of

USD $65,062.00 - USD $117,291.00 /Yr.
