About the Job

General Summary of Position
Assists supervisor in the over-all operation of area. Functions as lead individual - responsible for the assigning and checking the work of Material Handlers and/or Material Handler Seniors in the receiving distribution of stock and non-stock items as well as the inventory of stock items.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities


  • Assists with the overall operation of assigned area. Assumes responsibility of area in the absence of supervisor.
  • Assesses work to be done with the supervisor and assigns or reassigns Material Handlers and Material Handler Seniors to specific tasks or areas as needed. Answers questions concerning the work to be done.
  • Spot checks the work of Material Handler Seniors and Material Handlers making any necessary corrections.
  • Monitors stock rotation and inventory levels. Informs supervisor of abnormal findings or problems.
  • Takes calls from Nursing Units/OR regarding problems with supplies on the exchange carts and/or STAT supply requests.
  • Assists supervisor and manager in preparing monthly production reports weekly meetings training new employees timekeeping of personnel and employee evaluations.
  • Performs the duties of the Material Handler Senior and/or Material Handler in the absence of a full complement and as needed to meet deadlines and workload.
  • Prepares for and participates in all scheduled inventories and cycle counts.
  • May go into the computerized inventory control system and enter items removed from inventory.
  • May download next day assignments into hand held computers.
  • Minimal Qualifications
    Education
    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • May require up to l year of technical or other specialized training.
    Experience
    • 1 to 3 years experience in material(s) handling required
    Licenses and Certifications
    • DL NUMBER - Driver License Valid and in State (DRLIC) required
    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    • Requires the ability to read and write; and knowledge of grammar and arithmetic including fractions and decimals.
    • May require the use of standard office/medical equipment (i.e. typewriter personal computer data terminal on-line printer calculator telephone facsimile copier sterilizing equipment blood pressure cuff or tables); the preparation comparison or checking of reports records and related data; and basic use of formulas charts tables drawings and knowledge of their application.

    This position has a hiring range of

    USD $20.64 - USD $31.30 /Hr.
