About the Job

General Summary of Position
Plays a lead role in clinical and operations performance improvement support to MedStar Health Home Care by functioning as an analyst facilitator consultant and/or project manager as required. Ensures that improvements are made in clinical and operational practice to improve the quality and cost of care through any of the following: operational assessments productivity management and other improvement methods. Ensures high quality of both the process and results of the work. Ensures that appropriate change management principles are applied in the areas impacted by change.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Contributes to development of standards of performance for the department assists in evaluating performance and conducts performance management planning. Maintains ongoing communication with peers to review programs provide feedback and discuss new developments and exchange information. Shares personal expertise with peers and seeks peers' expertise appropriately.
  • Identifies variances and potential performance improvement opportunities in clinical and operational processes outcomes and cost data. Develops and recommends clinical and operational improvements and collaborates with local leadership to develop action plans to accomplish improvements.
  • Manages improvement projects as assigned to meet established goals and timelines. Effectively and efficiently influences processes outcomes and behaviors to complete assignments in a timely and quality focused manner.
  • Implements financial policies and procedures pertaining to annual budget planning budget monitoring and variance reporting physician billing reimbursement maximization cost control and revenue enhancement and long-range plans related to the department(s). Develops and oversees capital operating and staffing budgets.
  • Maintains effective communication between administration physician leadership staff and customers. Maintains appropriate communication within and between functional units. Serves as a liaison to external groups including faculty. Ensures responsive patient services and relations.
  • Plans work to be done in concert with the needs of MedStar leadership. Integrates work with all other departmental initiatives and revises as necessary. Anticipates needs of customers and addresses these appropriately.
  • Coordinates develops and monitors quality improvement efforts. Assembles and assimilates data to be reported on a regular basis. Assists in developing criteria to improve medical care rendered by the department ensuring compliance with TJC guidelines.
  • Works with hospital-based physicians to monitor productivity ensure efficient use of resources and ensure financial goals are met.
  • Supports meetings as necessary. Prepares meeting materials and ensures appropriate communications before during and after the meeting.
  • Participates in meetings on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts as required.

Minimal Qualifications
Education

  • Bachelor's degree Business Administration Health Care Management preferred
  • One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience

  • 5-7 years Experience in healthcare management or healthcare consulting; may require hands-on patient care experience patient care management experience and/or experience as an educator (clinical and non-clinical) required
  • One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent managerial and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently
  • Ability to work with diverse groups and support staff
  • Ability to facilitate a team to defined outcomes in a timely manner.
  • Working knowledge of various computer software applications.

This position has a hiring range of

USD $82,617.00 - USD $157,352.00 /Yr.
