Ambulatory Nurse Coordinator Medical Oncology


Are you an experienced nurse looking for a unique and rewarding opportunity? MedStar Health is seeking a dedicated and visionary Ambulatory Nurse Coordinator to join our Medical Oncology team. As a member of the Division of Nursing's (DON), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of patient care in this specialized ambulatory field. 

 

Position Overview 


The Ambulatory Nurse Coordinator will coordinate the operations of designated ambulatory practice(s) associates. They will supervise clinical and support staff, provide direct patient care and assist physicians with patient care. The Ambulatory Nurse Coordinator will develop, implement, and maintain operational policies and procedures in consultation with physicians and administrative director of the Medical Oncology.

Key Responsibilities 


Develops goal/objectives for the work group to contribute to the achievement of the MWHC business strategy. Addresses roadblocks to achieving established goals and objectives.  


Coordinates the day-to-day patient flow of designated ambulatory practices. Adjusts schedules/patient appointments to meet changing priorities due to severity of patients' needs. Works with physicians and staff to minimize patient wait time.  


Supervises clinical and support staff. Establishes work schedules, makes daily assignments, delegates, and assigns duties/responsibilities. Interviews, hires, evaluates performance, promotes, and disciplines staff in conjunction with the Medical and Administrative Director. 


Monitors and controls the unit's budget in consultation with the physicians and the Administrative Director. Forecasts activities and costs. Procures and manages unit equipment, instrumentation, supplies, etc. Evaluates and recommends new equipment and instruments.

Qualifications 


  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required 


  • Active DC RN License 


  • 3-4 years of progressively more responsible job-related nursing and medical office practice experience, preferably in a multiple physician practice 


  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
