Job Summary:  

MedStar Health is looking for a Chaplain to join our team at MedStar Franklin Square Hospital. 

Provides spiritual counseling, guidance, and sacramental care to patients, families, and staff. Offers spiritual care services to adult patients and families using theological and clinical training to help patients and families cope more effectively with life and/or end of life issues.

Primary Duties:  

• Conducts spiritual assessments and integrates patients' beliefs and values into individualized care plans, providing guidance to support treatment decisions and personal adjustment.
• Offers counseling and facilitates communication between patients, families, and the interdisciplinary health care team regarding spiritual needs.
• Documents assessments, progress notes, and faith-related information in compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
• Provides 24/7 spiritual care coverage, administers sacraments, coordinates with clergy, and organizes worship or prayer services.
• Represents the hospital in community and interfaith events, participates in departmental initiatives, and supports programs to meet patients', families', and staff's spiritual needs.

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree of Divinity (Required)
•  Master's degree of Divinity (Required)
• The National Association of Catholic Chaplains (Required)
• Less than 1 year Parish ministry or other pastoral ministry experience, preferably in a hospital/healthcare setting (Required)

License/Certifications:

• Certification by a Chaplain's certifying body (Preferred) and
• If a priest or minister, ordained by a recognized religious body and endorsed by the proper ecclesiastical authority. (Required) and
• If a lay person, endorsed by the proper ecclesiastical authority. (Required)
