General Summary of Position
MedStar Health is looking for a Director of Community Engagement and Quality of Life Services to join our team at MedStar National Rehabilitation Network!  
As a Director of Community Engagement and Quality of Life Services, you will have oversight and accountability for three distinct programs, including Inpatient Therapeutic Recreation, MedStar Adapted Sports and Fitness in the Community, and the MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital Community Benefit Program.

Primary Duties: 
Manages resources (human, material, and financial) to ensure quality, cost-effective delivery of services for specific patient populations in the inpatient setting. Promotes an environment that supports the goals, mission, vision, philosophy, and values of the MedStar National Rehabilitation Network.
Manages the daily operations of the MedStar Adapted Sports and Fitness program in the community, including budgeting, coaching training, and compliance with various certifying bodies. Ensures financial support of the programs by seeking grants (including grant management and documentation to grantors), donations, and sponsors for hosting special events. Coordinates the representation of MedStar NRH in the community through Disability Awareness programs and partnerships. Collaborates with existing community resources to develop and implement community health initiatives.
Actively participates in strategic planning initiatives. Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees, including program steering committees, and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate. Coordinates Community Health Advisory Task Force Meetings. Participates in applicable internal and external meetings/committees and represents the department/hospital in community health initiatives.
Collaborates and interacts with hospital departments to provide community-based initiatives and to gather community benefit information. Completes community benefit reporting to governmental agencies, as required, and to the community. Manages input of all community benefit activities in the Community Benefit Inventory for Social Accountability (CBISA) Software or other designated programming database.
Works with the MNRN Vice President, Philanthropy to coordinate the MNRH Community Health Needs Assessment Implementation Strategy. Partners with philanthropy to secure funding that will advance the outcomes of hospital priorities and the Community Health Assessment Implementation Strategy. Promotes an environment that supports the goals, mission, vision, philosophy, and values of the MedStar National Rehabilitation Network.

Qualifications:  
Bachelor's degree in related field required.  
5-7 years clinical experience in acute rehabilitation or acute care hospital setting.  
3-4 years supervisory experience required.  
BLS (Basic Life Support) required. 
ACSM-CPT- ACSM Certified Personal Trainer required.
Registered as a Recreation Therapist by the District of Columbia Department of Health preferred.
Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation preferred.  
Master's degree in Therapeutic Recreation preferred.
