General Summary of Position

 

Title: Director Perioperative Capital Projects & Equipment Logistics

 
Job Summary: 

Provides direction of the operational, personnel, and financial activities of Perioperative Services Capital Projects and equipment procurement and deployment.  These functions are coordinated with the OR Director, Director Pre/Post Op Services, AVP, Perioperative Services, Business Director, Perioperative Services, Medical Director Perioperative Services, and Hospital Administration. All functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.

 
Primary Duties:

  

1.  Creates reports to present short- and long-term strategic asset replacement fiscal planning based on life cycle and oversight on life expectance base on usage and product depreciation.

 

2.   Lead operational relationships with external suppliers related to the equipment specifications and ordering.

 

3.  Regularly assesses capital and non-capital assets and equipment to ensure safety and infection control standards and to plan and prioritize repairs and replacements for budget planning. Responsible for maintaining assets and equipment inventory.

 

4.  Creates and/or updates annual capital budget in appropriate format. Meets with Perioperative department leaders to review and prioritize the capital list. Submit capital requests to PSL and local entity within given timeframes each year.

 

5.   Assumes responsibilities for special projects including maintenance/ concerns/activities to ensure on-going safe and efficient hospital operations; serves as liaison between all parties involved with materials, equipment and facilities operations and clinical/non-clinical staff.

 

6.   Prepares program of requirements for new projects; consults with end-user to determine appropriate scopes of work and associated budgets; assigns and prioritizes work, recommends project implementation strategies, and coordinates team staffing and process oversight from planning hand off to project closure.

 

7.   Procurement and Deployment – Responsible for budgeting capital and operating dollars, soliciting proposals, placing orders, receiving deliveries, receiving equipment for inventory and deployment. Sets up education sessions for staff with vendors and new equipment when necessary. Manages any clinical trials of new equipment.

 

8.  Provide oversight and direction for the Vendor Management Program.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in a hospital setting, inclusive of a minimum of 1 year at a managerial level required.
  • Clinical background in perioperative services preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Business Administration or Health Care Management required.
