General Summary of Position
Responsible for systemwide strategic planning and the support of service line, physician and ambulatory development. Job scope includes but is not limited to: program planning, service line planning, market research, industry, and competitor analysis and program development.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities


  • Develops and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Leads strategic planning projects under the direction of VP/AVPs to advance MedStar Health strategic plan across regions, service lines and other assigned entities. Demonstrates autonomy in managing a diverse project portfolio and timely, high quality deliverable development.
  • Directs departmental staff, analysts and senior analysts, per assigned project-based teams including project direction and ensuring on-time, quality deliverables. Partner with Director, Strategic Analytics on professional development and team engagement opportunities.
  • Builds/maintains working knowledge of healthcare market trends, industry standards, and other resources relevant to planning.
  • Builds/maintains working knowledge of analytic tools relevant to planning, including internal and external data sources.
  • Partners with MedStar operational, business development and finance teams to support evaluation of new ambulatory sites, products, services, and market consolidation or re-configuration opportunities.
  • Develops routine market and competitive reports for regional, physician, ambulatory, and acute markets.
  • Conducts practice and market evaluation for as physician practice acquisition opportunities.
  • Supports facility planning efforts across the system through development of capacity models and scenario planning.
  • Supports development and implementation of annual operating plan, including maintenance of tracking documents and coordination with key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Provides oversight for internal and external reporting mechanisms related to performance, including the MedStar Health Balanced Scorecard, DCDN map development, annual surveys etc.

    Minimal Qualifications

    Experience

    • 5-7 years Experience in strategic or business planning in a health care setting, with healthcare system experience preferred. required

    Licenses and Certifications

    • No special certification, registration or licensure required

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the development of presentations and reports; facilitation of planning processes with key stakeholders; strong project management, critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytic skills.
    • Capable of managing multiple, high-priority assignments.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to develop good working relationships with key stakeholders across the system.


    This position has a hiring range of $134,118 - $265,616
