MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center is looking for a qualified PA candidate to join our growing team of 13 highly skilled Advanced Practice Providers. We offer a supportive team environment with hands-on training from our surgeons, residents, and fellow APP's. This position offers exposure to multiple surgical specialties.
This position is solely at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, an academic, tertiary, community-based hospital -- one of the largest community teaching hospitals with busiest ED in the state of Maryland.
Job opportunity is primarily inpatient floor with minimal OR time covering the resident services: surgical oncology, colorectal, vascular, general surgery, endocrine, and bariatric. Perform a variety of duties such as HxPs as well as providing care to assigned patients. Post-operative rounding is a combination of both fellow surgeons and physician assistants. Experienced PAs from a surgical field or new graduates with a strong interest in surgery will be considered. Work 40hrs weekly as a 1.0FTE full-time employee.
Job Summary
- Perioperative patient management
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic lab tests
- Conducting surgical history and physical exams
- Inpatient rounding and consultations
- Wound care and bedside procedures under direct and indirect supervision
- Perform medication reconciliation and help to arrange appropriate post-discharge follow up for all surgical patients.
- Patient/family education
- Collaborate with the physician and other clinical staff members to maintain continuity of care.
- Participate in developing, reviewing, and revising medical/surgical protocols.
- Participate in training of staff and students
- (minimal) First Assist in surgery procedures
