General Summary of Position
The Lead Enterprise Architect will drive the architectural design of complex enterprise-wide applications using state-of-the-art development technologies. The Enterprise Architect will report to the AVP of Data & Integrations and serve as the dedicated technical lead for Digital Transformation across many high-value use cases. This role will be responsible for researching and recommending scalable application architecture and data structure across new and existing middleware software and technical systems. The Enterprise Architect will be responsible for collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders to create and document architectural design and development standards, integration methodologies, and best practices.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides a detailed recommendation on the architectural approach for new system integrations, including the development of detailed architecture diagrams and integration methodologies.
  • Collaborates with internal and/or 3rd party stakeholders to design scalable and efficient IT solutions, including the review and identification of technologies, ROI/measurement models, techniques, standard and practices across various high priority use cases.
  • Leads the integration of complex enterprise-wide applications to support Digital Transformation, including but not limited to creating the overall technical strategy, selecting the appropriate development environment, developing specifications, conducting code reviews, etc.
  • Evaluates existing systems and proposes enhancements or new solutions to meet evolving healthcare needs and system objectives
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and project managers to integrate diverse systems, ensuring seamless interoperability and data exchange.
  • Recommends appropriate technologies and tools based on their compatibility with existing systems, scalability, and alignment with MedStar Health strategic goals.
  • Partners with MedStar security and third-party technical teams to ensure compliance with HIPAA and other critical regulatory requirements.
  • Keeps abreast of current trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in the healthcare/IT industries to continually enhance the organization's technology landscape.
  • Reviews and consults on third party vendor products for technical, architectural and technological soundness during vendor and product purchasing.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or Health Administration required
    • Master's degree in related health field preferred

    Experience

    • 10+ years Experience in leading technology intensive programs with hands-on experience with specialized health care related computers and software. required

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Deep knowledge of current and emerging information processing technology, including communications, application development life-cycle activities, software, and hardware
    • Deep knowledge of web-based development technologies and application design best practices.
    • Superior written and presentation skills.
    • Proven analytical ability to solve complex business and technical problems
    • Superior interpersonal skills with management, users, customers, and coworkers
    • Versatile computing skills including numerous industry-standard administrative and groupware applications and project management tools.
