General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is looking for a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team!

 

 Under the guidance of the Section Chief of Nuclear Medicine, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist will perform a full range of nuclear scans.

Primary Duties: 

  • Prepare radioactive isotopes for administration to patients. Fill hypodermic syringe with specified amount of isotope and tagging component.  

  • Observe strict precautions in handling isotopes to safeguard against overexposure to radiation. Follow recommended guidelines of nuclear regulatory commission (NRC). Operate gamma camera and related computers.  

  • Keep records of test conducted, test results, use, and disposition of isotopes. Must be available for on-call assignments, as needed.  

  • Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards. Follows the hospital exposure control plans/Blood borne and airborne pathogens.  

  • Promotes an effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department inter and intra departmentally to facilitate the department's ability to meet its goals and objectives 

 

Qualifications:  

  • High School Diploma or GED.  

  • Must have completed an approved Nuclear Medicine Program. 

  • NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board) or ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technology) certification. 

  • Current Maryland State License.
