General Summary of Position
Ensures a safe environment for our patients, staff and visitors. Patrols hospital property responds to calls for assistance, and reports on conditions, objects or persons which may impact the security and/or safety of patients, associates, physicians, visitors, or vendors, and responds according to established policies, procedures and regulations. Officers are essential associates in a 24/7 environment and may be required to be flexible with scheduling and work "off-shifts.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required and
- Associate's degree preferred
Experience
- 1-2 years of related security or law enforcement experience required or
- Prior experience in healthcare (or related field with a patient-first, customer-first mission) preferred and
- In lieu of the related experience, an internal candidate who has 1 year of MedStar tenure may be considered,
- One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.
Licenses and Certifications
- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State (DRLIC) Valid driver's license required and
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required and
- Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit. and
- Must successfully complete all MedStar initial training related to violence prevention, de-escalation and crisis prevention intervention. required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and thoughtful during a crisis.
- Ability to assist in de-escalating situations with strong emotions and conflict.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
This position has a hiring range of $18.33 - $31.61
