General Summary of Position
In this role you will perform all aspects of phlebotomy functions and specimen collections in an inpatient setting to include venous and capillary collections and/or glucose testing, while following the proper standards and practices. In addition, you may be involved in verifying patient insurance and performing basic data entry to register and accession in and/or out-patient orders while complying with the MedStar Laboratory Compliance Plan. Working hours for this role is EVERY OTHER Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 9pm to 530am.
*Please note that training for this role must occur for several weeks on weekday, day shift. *
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion of Hospital approved phlebotomy course (NPA, CPT or equivalent) required.
Licenses and Certifications
- CPT - Phlebotomy Technician Certification Phlebotomy certification preferred and
- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State (DRLIC) Valid driver's license in the State of Maryland and dependable vehicle for transportation preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic computer skills.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
This position has a hiring range of $19.17 - $33.08
