General Summary of Position

Bring your passion for leadership to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital; one of the most technologically advanced Perioperative settings in the DC region. Our brand‑new Verstandig Pavilion houses this 64-bay unit. The Preop Discharge unit supports our 31 cutting‑edge operating rooms and 48 bay PACU which deliver inpatient and outpatient services along the following service lines: transplant, orthopedics, neurosurgery, limb salvage, gynecological surgery, robotics, urology, pediatrics, thoracics, general surgery, and more.

About the Unit

Our Pre-Op & Discharge nurses provide exceptional care to surgical patients during the critical pre- and postoperative phases (Phase II). From comprehensive pre-op assessments to patient education and emotional support, the nursing team ensures each patient is physically and emotionally prepared for surgery. On the other side of the surgical journey, our Discharge nurses assess readiness for discharge and guide same-day patients and families through the transition back home with clear, effective education to promote safe self-care.

This fast-paced, high-volume environment is where communication, collaboration, and clinical precision are essential. As ADON, you'll be central to leading this dynamic team while upholding MedStar Georgetown's commitment to quality, safety, and an outstanding patient experience. The perioperative leadership teams of the PDC and PACUs all work together closely.
