General Summary of Position

MedStar Health Research Institute is adding a Research Project Manager to its onsite team in Washington, DC in support of our recently granted long-term project looking at social determinants of health for pediatric populations and their families.  The Research Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the successful execution of the research project. This role involves managing project teams, liaising with stakeholders, ensuring adherence to timelines, and contributing to the overall success of research endeavors. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in project management, research methodologies, and effective communication.

The individual in this role is expected to oversee and lead large interprofessional multi-sector projects requiring collaboration with various disciplines, managing data, and contribute to research and evaluation activities.

Ideal candidates will have the following:

- Proven experience in managing research projects from inception to completion.
- Strong understanding of research methodologies and data analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Experience in Human Factors engineering is a plus.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the estimations of resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Develops project plans and associated communications documents.
  • Directs and manages project development from beginning to end. Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicates project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion. Acts as liaison with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Identifies and manages project dependencies and critical path. Plans and schedules project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools. Tracks project milestones and deliverables. Develops and delivers progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations. Determines the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyzes results, and troubleshoots problem areas.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in relevant field required

    Experience

    • Experience managing research grants or contracts strongly preferred
    • 2 years work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution required

    Licenses and Certifications

    • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)-PMI PMP Certification is highly encouraged within 12 months of employment

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Basic computer skills.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to lpan, organize, motivate, and control resources to achieve specific goals, under the constraints of project scope, time, quality and budget.
