General Summary of Position
Responsible for the coordination of patient care across the continuum of Radiation Oncologic care for all patients. Educates/provides information, supports patients, and facilitates treatment plans. Functions as a patient advocate, guides patients and families throughout cancer care and survivorship experience. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.
Schedule
Monday-Friday Days, potential for 4 days/wk
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree Nursing required
- Master's degree Nursing preferred
Experience
- 3-4 years clinical nursing required
- Experience with surgical oncology, inpatient/outpatient/community oncology services. preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have clinical maturity and experience, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of health care providers. Effective oral and written communication skills. Position requires a high level of advocacy and problem-solving ability. Ability to multitask and organize advocacy and support for a large and varied group of cancer patients and their families. Knowledge of community resources is helpful.
