General Summary of Position
Receives, stores, and distributes medical and non-medical supplies and equipment using manual and materials handling equipment.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receives non-stock and/or stock deliveries. Assists driver(s) in offloading using forklift, hand cart, power jack, manual jack, and/or rolling cart.
  • Processes stock and non-stock deliveries and packages using the department's data inquiring system. Tags packages with department location/room number/PO number (if appropriate) and places in designated staging area by zone for delivery/disbursement. Tags/marks stock deliveries with the appropriate warehouse location. Files hard copies of purchase orders.
  • Delivers non-stock items by zone (using a rolling cart), verifying order and attempting to/securing the appropriate department signature on the packing slip and log. Delivers stock items to either bulk storage or the requesting department, securing a signature on delivery log for deliveries to departments.
  • Answers phone inquires from WHC departments concerning orders/deliveries. Checks department's data inquiry system and responds to caller.
  • Labels individual items pulled from bulk stock with barcode.
  • Pulls stock supplies, from stock requisitions and/or faxes, and places picked supplies in the designated staging area by zone for distribution.
  • May deliver supplies to WHC from the warehouse by driving a truck or van.
  • Assists in or accomplishes the collection, packaging, shipment, and documentation of goods/items returned to vendor(s).
  • Participates in taking physical inventories.
  • Pulls trash as necessary and maintains the work area(s) in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
  • May perform the duties of a Material Handler as required.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • May require up to l year of technical or other specialized training.

    Experience

    • 6 to 12 months experience required
    • Experience in material(s) handling preferred

    Licenses and Certifications

    • DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State (DRLIC) required

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Requires the ability to read and write; and knowledge of grammar, and arithmetic including fractions and decimals.
    • May require the use of standard office/medical equipment (i.e., typewriter, personal computer, data terminal, on-line printer, calculator, telephone, facsimile, copier, sterilizing equipment, blood pressure cuff, or tables); the preparation, comparison or checking of reports, records and related data; and basic use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings and knowledge of their application.
