General Summary of Position
We are actively recruiting for an Animal / Vet Research Tech to join the team at MedStar Health Research Institute on the campus of MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC.  The Animal / Vet Research Tech will be expected to provide technical services in the preclinical research laboratory in a humane, safe and sanitary manner.  Ideal candidates will have prior training and experience working with animals in a research setting.  

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
Education

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required

Experience

• Experience working in a GLP environment and performing minor surgical procedures preferred
• 1-2 years experience in a related field required
• Phlebotomy experience in rabbits and experience with large animals (swine and/or rabbits) required

Licenses and Certifications

• Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or certification by AALAS at the LATg level preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of FDA-GLPS's.
• Knowledge of applicable regulations regarding the proper standards of animal care and use in a research environment required.
• Proficient in the use of basic computer software programs.
