Job Summary:

MedStar Health is seeking a visionary and strategic leader to serve as Vice President of Philanthropy for MedStar Union Memorial and MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital, a cornerstone of compassionate, community-centered healthcare. This executive role is an extraordinary opportunity to shape the future of healthcare through transformational fundraising, donor engagement, and mission-driven partnerships. The VP of Philanthropy will lead all development initiatives while executing the organization's philanthropic strateg while working closely with executive leadership and the Board to advance philanthropic efforts that support patient care, innovation, and community health programs. This position requires experience at the principal gifts level (7 figure gifts) and planned giving experience is highly desirable.

Primary Duties:

·         Work closely with the entity executive team to integrate and execute philanthropic goals into the annual operating plan of the organization.

·         Partners with the Regional VP for Philanthropy and the VP for Grants to develop and support the execution of grant strategy, closely aligned with the organization's strategic and adjacent services.

·         Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including hospital leadership, clinical departments, and administrative teams, to identify funding priorities and develop compelling proposals for philanthropic support. Build strategic partnerships with community organizations, and other institutions to advance shared healthcare objectives.

·         Partners closely with external stakeholders, including members of the Board of Directors, and the philanthropy committee, to support the philanthropy revenue goals of the organization

·         Develops and implements thoughtful, strategic cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans for prospective donors for gifts of $1M+.

·         Leads planned giving efforts for the hospital.This includes providing expert guidance and support to philanthropy teams.

·         Manage and mentor a team of philanthropy professionals.

·         Meets annual activity and financial performance metrics.

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred.

·         Minimum of 7 years of experience in healthcare philanthropy, ideally within a health system is required.

·         Certified Fund Raising Executive – CFRE International upon hire preferred
