Nurse Practitioner – Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit

Full-time, Part-time, or Per Diem

Position Summary

MemorialCare Medical Group is looking for experienced Nurse Practitioners (NP) for our new, dedicated Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) at Miller Children's & Women's Hospital of Long Beach (MCWHLB). The new state of the art 8-bed CTICU and an additional 6-bed stepdown unit are part of our Heart Institute's rapid growth to serve the needs of the southern California community. This is an exciting opportunity to work under the leadership of Constantinos Chrysostomou, MD, Medical Director of the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at MCWHLB. The candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of highly trained pediatric intensivists, neonatologists, cardiologists, dedicated CTICU nurses and other specialists caring for children with congenital heart disease.

MemorialCare Miller Children's & Women's Hospital Long Beach is a private, not for profit children's hospital first opened in 1970. It is a 324 bed children's hospital that treats more than 8,000 children each year and has become a regional pediatric destination for more than 84,000 children. It has an active perinatal and maternal fetal medicine service with over 7000 deliveries annually to the adjacent birth center and one of the largest Neonatal Intensive Care units (NICU) in the area with over 90 beds. The hospital serves as the major referral center for the over 500,000 people of Long Beach but reaches an additional 2 million people in the immediate vicinity.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

Post-training Experience in caring for pediatric cardiac patients is required. You will also serve as a patient advocate, acting as liaison between patients and physicians.

Qualifications:

  • Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience is required
  • Must have completed an accredited Nurse Practitioner Master's Degree program with a specialty in Pediatrics, Acute Care preferred
  • Specialty Board Certification as an ACNP or equivalent in specialty area
  • National Certification in Nurse Practitioner Specialty required
  • CA RN and NP license required
  • DEA required
  • BLS and PALS required
  • Will be required to attend required Epic EMR training (ambulatory and inpatient)
