Overview:

The Business Office Representative in the Critical Access Hospital Therapy Department must serve a dual role of performing duties of a business offfice representative and as a therapy services technician.

 

The incumbent is responsible for the registration process: registration including accuracy of patient demographic data, insurance verification, compliance checking, obtaining and documenting pre-certification and/or referral numbers, and collecting all necessary information needed to bill appropriate payors. The incumbent is responsible for greeting people and collecting co-pays and co-insurance while logging all appropriate information in the daily deposit log and receipt log. The incumbent is also responsible for scheduling patients, maintaining visit counts for Medicare requirements, maintain report logs as needed for Rural Therapy Services Manager.

 

The incumbent stocks and orders linen and supplies, cleans and prepares equipment, and inputs daily patient supply charges into the computer.The incumbent has direct patient contact in transportation and provides assistance to the Physical Therapist, Occupational, Speeech Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, and Occupational Therapist Assistant during patient treatments.Under the direct supervision of a licensed therapist or licensed therapist assistant, the incumbent will assist in the application of thermal modalities, accompany patients during simple walking, exercises, and assist patients in and out of the whirlpool tanks.The incumbent shall address appropriately the age specific needs for all patients and trat patients and family with dignity and respect. The incumbent will identify and report any patient safety issue when identified.


Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Graduate
  • Experience: Knowledge of office machines and computers. Must have excellent data entry skills and be able to work with figures and balance cash deposits.
  • Certifications: American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support Certification
