Overview:

Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs echocardiography procedures for interpretation by physicians. Provides the patient care essential to echocardiography procedures. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education: 1. High school diploma or equivalent 2. Prerequisite for education and required clinical experience from American Registry for

    Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).

  • Certifications:1. BLS. 2. Registered or registry eligible, Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) with ARDMS or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) with CCI.

  • Experience: None

  • Other: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Echocardiography is a highly skilled allied health profession requiring judgment and capability in assisting the delivery of health care as it relates to this modality. Responsible for reviewing the pertinent patient history and supporting clinical data to facilitate optimum diagnostic results, including performing the appropriate procedures that provide a sonographic record of the anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data necessary for interpretation by a physician.

  • Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: This individual must be capable of walking long distances, transporting ultrasound equipment, and assist in lifting patients.

  • Equipment Used: Ultrasound equipment.
