Overview:

 

Responsible for the oversight and direction of Payor Audit & Denials Program initiatives and related implementation activities specific to the program.   Provides leadership and supports executive decision-making.  Ensures strategies are executed and operational with action plans and tools to track progress and monitor performance.  This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Payor Audit & Denials Program Support co-workers in a manner that produces quality outcomes.


Qualifications:

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration or a related field.
  • Experience: 
    • A minimum of 5 or more years of direct experience managing staff in a health care setting.
    • Proven ability to analyze and efficiently interpret data.    
  • Preferred Certifications:  Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)

 

OTHER SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Advanced statistics skills and quantitative analysis ability.
  • Prior people management/supervisory experience.
  • Excellent analytical and report development skills; proven ability to apply analytical thinking in a business setting.  
  • Experience within the revenue cycle function as it relates to billing, coding and denial management
  • Strong critical/conceptual thinking skills combined with the ability to synthesize information to see the big picture while effectively managing details.
  • Strong business acumen with the skills to challenge leaders across all functional disciplines
  • Experience summarizing data and building executive level presentations and communication packages utilizing tools such as MS PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills to effectively work with others involved in the audit and appeal process.
  • Must possess the ability to prioritize, delegate, and organize various tasks/projects simultaneously to ensure departmental and Mercy-wide goals are timely met.
  • Possesses integrity, imagination and initiative as evidenced by self-improvement.
  • Demonstrates personal qualities such as kindness, compassion, understanding, integrity, interest and respect for others.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information.
  • Ability to stay current on changing regulations related to Payer Contractors.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and their implications on the audit and appeal process.
  • Creative, results-oriented, well organized, task-driven, self-starter with high energy level, and ability to influence others
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in an independent manner to accomplish and carry out goals/objectives in a collaborative manner.
  • Very high personal integrity and work ethic with the ability to demonstrate and obtain the respect of individuals who they manage and/or supervise.
  • Ability to travel periodically across the Ministry as required.
