Overview:
The Orthopaedic Technologist is a specifically trained allied health individual to assist the orthopaedic surgeon in the practice of medicine. He performs his duties under the direction of the orthopaedic surgeon.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Other: Eligible for staff privileges at hospitals in which orthopaedic surgeons work. Knowledge of physiology, anatomy and medical terminology. Competency in applying casts and splints and surgical technology.
- Preferred Certifications: Recommend certification by the National Association of Orthopaedic Technologists.
- Preferred Other: Must be capable and willing to keep patients films and medical records confidential. Responsible for practicing economy in the use of supplies. Ability to communicate effectively. Must be effective in both oral and written communications. Must possess the ability to meet and communicate with patients, physicians and visitors courteously. Must be a team worker. Must be able to relate well to other people and be tolerant of their conditions. Must actively promote harmony and good public image. Must be able to effectively delegate tasks.
