Med Surg Overview:

 

Mercy Fort Smith's Med Surg Service Line is made up of 7 specialty units that will provide experience with patient populations with a varying range of diagnoses and care needs.  Functionally, these units house and care for patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions.  While you will have a “home unit”, we cross-train our nurses between the various specialties to provide a strong foundational knowledge of all types of patient conditions, comorbidities, procedures, etc.  Whether you are a new grad nurse looking to build a strong base before launching into your future career/educational plans or an experienced nurse who enjoys variety in their every day work, Med Surg is the place for you!

 

Neuro: 

  • Patient Population: close monitoring and nursing care to patients, specifically those with neurological/neurosurgical/surgical and urological diagnosis including stroke patients and post-back surgery patients.
  • Nurse to Patient Ratio: 6:1
  • # of Beds: 18
  • UAP to patient ratio: 9:1

Incentives:

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program; Consideration will be given for comparable education experience and successful licensure.
  • Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining a current LPN license within the hiring state in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all State Board of Nursing requirements
  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support Certification through an American Heart Association approved program
