Description
Find your calling at Mercy! Assesses patient need for Respiratory Care based on Respiratory Protocols and Physician orders. Evaluates the educational needs of the respiratory patient and educates the patient with appropriate skills and knowledge to co-manage their disease. Ability to effectively communicate with patients and their families in order to promote health behaviors identified for optimal disease management. Through good communication and teamwork, the Assessor works with the patient care team in the evaluation, education and/or management of respiratory disease. Performs direct patient care in all aspects of respiratory therapy according to physicians' orders. Consults physicians on effectiveness of therapy. Provides ventilator support during cardiopulmonary resuscitation and maintains life support equipment in the intensive care units and other designated areas. Position Details:
Shift:
Full-Time (Days) 7:00 am to 7:30 pm
Education: Graduate of an Accredited Respiratory Care Program.
Licensure: Must have a current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of practice.
Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience.
Certifications: Registered as a therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care (RRT).
Other: Must be current in CPR and ACLS (may obtain upon hire). Asthma Educator - Certified or obtain AE-C within eight months of taking the position. A coworker may have one additional attempt before being asked to step down.
Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Experience: 3+ years as a respiratory therapist.
Preferred Other: Knowledge in patient education.
