Overview:

The Senior Development Officer works closely with the Executive Director to design and execute a comprehensive development strategy for major and planned gift prospects for the Mercy Health Foundation. This position solicits for hospital and clinic programs, capital campaign gifts and ongoing general fundraising efforts. This individual will work with the local Foundation team, board, administration and physicians as a voice for support for the ministry.  This position performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.


Qualifications:

  • Required Experience: Minimum three years of successful major gift fundraising or equivalent experience
  • Required Education: Bachelor's degree
  • Other:  Knowledge of the principles and best practices associated with major gift fundraising. Possess strong analytical skills. Strategic approach to problem-solving. Personable presence, demeanor and the desire to work face-to-face with the external community. Outstanding commitment to customer service. Willingness and ability to learn and utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Raiser's Edge.
  • Ideal Personal Profile: Strong attention to detail, with an outstanding ability to multi-task. Initiates and has the ability to work independently. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Commitment to the mission and values of Mercy.
  • Preferred Experience: Experience in effectively working with all levels of organizational leadership and staff. Success in soliciting major gifts (gifts of $10,000+). Experience securing philanthropic support for hospital or health system. Preferred Certification/Registration: CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive).
