Overview:

 

Coworker will be primarily responsible for maintaining Trauma Registry in compliance with the National Data Dictionary definitions. This involves data collection, accurate recording and analyzing of Trauma/Burn patients that meet criteria for inclusion utilizing computerized registry software. Data will come from a variety of sources to complete required data elements. Performs duties in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Standards.


Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

     

  • Experience: Work as registrar in other registries or other trauma registries; Experience or education in information Technology beneficial

     

  • Other: Computer skills necessary to do data abstraction and reporting in Word, Excel, Access and Data entry

    Ability to work autonomously, with attention to detail

    Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology necessary

     

  • Preferred Education: Associate degree in Health Information OR related field. Knowledge of anatomical and medical terminology preferred.

     

  • Preferred Experience: Experience with medical databases a plusExperience with electronic medical records (EPIC) preferred

     

  • Preferred Certifications: ICD-10CM and CPT coding education; Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) RHIT (Registered Health Information Technologist) preferred.

     

  • Preferred Other: Knowledge of AIS (abbreviated Injury Scale) and ISS(Injury Severity Score) beneficial
