Position:  Unit Secretary

Department: Med/Surgical floor (Ortho Neuro)

Hours: Part-time Nights (Sunday-Thursday)

Overview:

 

Performs clerical and billing functions for the department, including answering the phone, transmitting messages to the appropriate individual, processing new and changed orders and acting as a liaison between other departments. The billing function will be performed on a daily basis. Performs related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: Should be familiar with medical terminology, or have equivalent health care experience/training. Previous Unit Secretary experience preferred.
  • Certifications: Must have a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within their probation period.
    • Other: Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: May be required to work differing schedules, shifts, days of the week, or work frequency according to department requirements. Usually works in a clean, air-conditioned area. May be called upon to transport items to different areas of the hospital. Physical demands are attached plus push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs., pinch up to 15 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally. Equipment Used: Unit Specific.
