Working independently and in collaboration with Physicians, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible to deliver care and integrate patient services with the goal of achieving specific clinical, financial and satisfaction outcomes for specific patient populations and disease processes. Coordinates with patient's healthcare team. Adheres to ethical principles of practice as defined by the Nurse Practice Act and the ANA code of ethics for nurses. Delivers healthcare in a therapeutic and professional manner demonstrating sensitivity towards unique patient/significant other needs. Preserves and protects the patient's autonomy, dignity, rights, values, and beliefs. Demonstrates the ability to advocate for the patients.

Wound center treats all types of wounds including but not limited to:

  • Acute traumatic wounds
  • Chronic and complex wounds
  • Care of pressure ulcers
  • Care of venous ulcers associated with edema utilizing compression wraps
  • Care of diabetic foot ulcers
  • Post-operative wound dehiscence
  • Advanced treatment modalities: TCC (total contact casting), wound vac, PICO vacs and cellular based tissue products), ostomy care

Minimum Qualifications:

Education – completion of Nurse Practitioner (NP) program Doctorate Degree in Nursing Preferred. Completion of a Certified Nurse Practitioner program required.

Experience - Wound care experience is required.

Licensure/Certification - License to practice as Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland required. Current DEA Registration and CDS permit required. Current BLS (CPR) in compliance with policy required. ACLS in compliance with policy required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Demonstrates critical thinking, extensive clinical competence and expertise. Demonstrated ability to work well with all disciplines at all levels. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Fluency in coding, ICD-10 and CPT, or commitment to acquire. Will have EHR computer access.
