Position qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or STEM (science, technology, engineering or math) field required; minimum four (4) years of relevant experience.   Two (2) years of healthcare experience preferred.   Bachelor's Degree in a non-STEM field can be accepted with an additional 2 years relevant work experience.

Job purpose:  This position performs the jobs of software engineer, computer programmer at Mind Springs.    An effective Software Engineer/Programmer will be able to bring technology and business processes together by understanding the needs and limitations of both sides.   As a software developer you are required to design and develop advanced code, write requirements for projects, identify risks to the system, and design systems that will be built.   This position is expected to stay abreast of new trends in order to incorporate new technologies into our system.     This position drives innovation by creating and developing new advanced coding to improve performance or increase security on current software and solutions.   When others say something cannot be done, this position is challenged with finding a solution.    Software Engineer/Programmers must have advanced understanding and experience in SQL and also have experience in additional advanced computer programming languages.     Must understand data modeling techniques to document technical designs of the data system and also be able to use programming techniques to build the data system to specifications.     Software Engineer/Programmers design, write and test the programming and automated jobs that are used to translate information from a variety of sources into our data warehouse.     This position will also periodically design and develop reports and dashboards.  As a Software Engineer/Programmer, you are responsible for developing test strategy to validate and verify projects and will be called upon to troubleshoot and debug existing solutions.  Software Engineer/Programmers may also be required to write instruction manuals for end users and train users on new software.     This position requires a high degree of collaboration, not only within our internal team, but with other individuals within our organization.  Additionally, this position will collaborate with external organizations when developing new specifications to transfer data between organizations.  


Knowledge, Skill & Ability (include materials and equipment directly used): 
•    Demonstrated experience in advanced programming languages.  Experience in SQL is required for position.  Experience in at least one other programming languages also required.  For example, C#, C++, Visual Basic, VB Scripting, Java, .NET, PHP, HTML, PowerShell, etc. 
•    Build and develop new software solutions to solve business problems.   
•    Create innovative systems and write program code to solve “unsolvable” business problems.   
•    Data modeling and advanced data systems analysis.  Advanced understanding of data processes, data warehousing, ETL processes, systems modeling, and data governance.  
•    Support and provide back up for the Database Administrator. 
•    Write and debug advanced programming code.   Review programming code for best practices, performance, and security standards.   
•    Proficient in basic reporting tools.  For example, Crystal Reports, Tableau, Microsoft SSRS.  
•    Write technical specifications, user instruction manuals, and train users as needed for projects.    
•    Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications to include Microsoft Office. Basic technical knowledge of desktop and workstation setups, PC hardware and software troubleshooting, remote tools, and technical support related to data solutions. 
•    Interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers.  
•    Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a sometimes hectic environment with frequent interruptions.
•    Commitment to keeping up in an environment where requirements are rapidly evolving.  


Working Conditions/Physical Demands:  
Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop.  Must have ability to sit for longer periods of time at a computer. Employee must be able to travel between Mind Springs sites or within the community. May be exposed to stressful situations that involve enraged, distraught and/or intoxicated individuals with possible mental disorders. Possible potential for exposure to communicable disease.
