The Laboratory of Chronic Airway Infection in the Division of Intramural Research (DIR) of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) is seeking an outstanding physician to support a research program in the clinical and translational science of bronchiectasis and pulmonary nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) disease (pNTM) on the NIH campus in Bethesda, MD. The existing faculty is an outstanding group of internationally recognized biomedical and epidemiological researchers supported by outstanding experienced physician assistants and nurse practitioners.

This Staff Clinician will provide clinical and research support to active research protocols aimed at unraveling the genetics, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of bronchiectasis and pulmonary NTM disease. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develop and pursue relevant research protocols of his/her own. The Staff Clinician will also provide pulmonary consultative support within the NIH Clinical Center through the Pulmonary Consult Service for patients with a wide variety of unusual diseases or undergoing 'first-in-human' clinical trials.

The successful candidate should have strong training, expertise and experience in clinical pulmonary medicine with board certification or eligibility in adult pulmonary medicine and critical care. Specific training and experience with treating bronchiectasis and pNTM patients is desirable but not required.

Applicants must have an MD or MD/PhD (or equivalent). Appointees may be US citizens, resident non-citizens, or non-resident non-citizens with or eligible to obtain a valid employment authorized visa. Applicants must be licensed to practice medicine in the United States and be board-eligible or board- certified in Pulmonary Medicine. Salary and title (Assistant, Associate or Senior Research Physician) are commensurate with research experience and accomplishments.

Applications from women, minorities and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged. Applicants should send a 1-2 page descriptive letter of interest and research proposal, curriculum vitae and complete biography, and arrange for three letters of reference to be sent to:
