Join us as a Nextracker – Performance Engineering Intern, based in Fremont, CA, where you'll directly report to the Senior Performance Engineering Manager. In this dynamic role, you'll immerse yourself in a collaborative environment, delving deep into the world of Photovoltaic (PV) technology and performance engineering. Your journey with us will involve exploring cutting-edge practices in modeling the performance of PV systems and learning about control and optimization techniques aimed at maximizing site energy performance. This internship offers a unique opportunity for hands-on learning and professional growth within the renewable energy sector.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and test physics-based & empirical models of PV + storage systems
• Analyze both simulated and empirically collected data on PV system performance to draw insightful conclusions
• Conduct comprehensive sensitivity studies to understand the multifaceted behavior of PV systems across various variables
• Explore and deploy diverse optimization techniques aimed at maximizing the yield of PV systems
• Implement statistical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to quantify and evaluate the system performance and uncertainties

Required Skills:

• Student in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent disciplines
• Strong programming and software skills (preferably in Python)
• Experienced with handling large data sets, and analysis tools in Python or other programming languages
• Proven ability to prepare technical reports and presentations
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, self-motivated
